2017-2018 Trojan Season Preview
With 10 returning letterman, 5 returning district qualifiers, and 2 returning state qualifiers, the future is now for these Trojans. The 2016-2017 addition qualifier for the PIAA District III Team Championships, but this team is hungry for greater success. This group will be lead by lone Senior Drake Brenize, 2017 State Qualifier,and Sophomore Luke Nichter, 2017 State Medalist, into a very difficult schedule that includes the Beast of the East, Escape the Rock and Trojan Wars.
The supporting cast is strong, including: Cole Grove(2017 District Medalist), Seth Runshaw (2016 District Placer), and Spencer Runshaw (2016 District Placer). The Trojans return letterman: Juniors- Alec Grove (152/160), Zae Kirk (160/170), Guy Lozius(182), and Jose Chavarria (195).Returning Sophomores letterman are Jevik Hummer (113/120) and Carson Mello (138/145).
The coaching staff is excited about this incoming group of talented wrestlers. Highlighting this group are Freshman Tate Nichter (145/152) and Sophomore Wyatt Hull (220/UNL). Nichter is a multiple time PJW Champion and Hull is a returning PJW Medalists. Joing these two are Freshman Tyler Smith (106), a returning PJW qualifier.
Several other talented wrestlers are hoping to make sure noise and push into the varsity line up, they include: Juniors Jamie Ramos(145/152), Anthony Berger(160/170) and freshman Anthony Collangelo (113), Kelby Mixell (120) and Malachi Spoonhour (UNL).
The team expects to make some noise in the District III Team Championships in and should have a strong contingent at the PIAA State Championships at the Giant Center come March.
